Dearest friends,

As I am preparing to close off 2007 with a fantastic holiday in Australia with some of my best friends, I thought it was a good time to write my last blog of the year. Reminisce a bit in preparation of what is to come in 2008…

The past year has been everything but uneventful… it was the year that Timmo and I settled in Singapore… it was the year that our careers went forwards and we were rewarded accordingly… it was the year that the end of ABN AMRO was announced... it was the year that I realised that it doesn’t matter where you live and what you do, all that matters are friends… it was the year that I fell out of love and Timmo and I decided to go our separate ways… it was the year that I fell in love head over heels but am now facing having to fall out of love again… it was the year in which for the very first time ever, one of the little rich girls (the other little rich girl knows very well who she is! :-) ) realised that she cannot always get what she wants, no matter how hard she fights for it… it was the year that my dearest friends and family became even dearer to me, because they were there for me when I needed them, because they didn’t judge, because they cried with me, because they gave me the spirit to follow my heart… it was the year that the happy-go-lucky person that I was, learned that one has to go through tough times too, just to appreciate the good times even more… it was the year that I travelled yet again to beautiful places and met beautiful new people… it was the year that I hurt somebody very badly, eventhough it was not what I intended to do… it was a year with wonderful events in the lives of people around me, such as graduations, new jobs, new countries, births & weddings… it was a year of closure & goodbyes, but therefore also of new & fresh beginnings…

And as we move into 2008, I have a few resolutions; one is to restore my balance and go full steam ahead, strong, positive, independent and happy. Two is to share my happiness with all those around me, be there for those who need support, enjoy the good times with those who have some to share with me… Three is to keep my door open to all my friends and family, meaning the front door of my new appartment in Singapore, as well as the door to my heart. And four is to let the sun shine, every day.

So, with Christmas time in front of our doorstep and 2008 lurking around the corner, I hope you all have a wonderful festive season, with lots of champagne, fine dining, fireworks and all your loved ones. And for the year to come, I wish you everything you yourself wish for, love, happiness, health, adventures, confidence, conviction, strength and all the other good things in this world.

And to close off on a happy note, here’s a funny story I must share with you all (with thanks to VK for cheering me up with it).

Big hugs and kisses,

Yaisa

A Christmas Story for people having a bad day...

When four of Santa's elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones, Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.

Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked, and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys.

So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard he discovered that the elves had hidden the liquor, and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration he accidentally dropped the cider pot, and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw end of the broom.

Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"

And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas Tree.

    Walter:

    Hoi lieve Yaisa!

    Walter XXX
