Life is sweet, life is... sweeter! No, this is no Campari advertisement - but just a way to express that we are still very much enjoying our life in Singapore and the look-out to the future is just as great!

The past few weeks, we have had some more friends visiting from Holland and several brought us a bottle of either duty-free champagne or port or some exotic delicacies, so the standard has been set for the next guests... :-) Of course, it's not their company that counts, but the gifts they come bearing... eh, sorry, other way round, let me rephrase.

Of course, it's not the gifts that count, but their company, and what company it has been! With Ben & Yvonne we shared a very special bottle of bubblies to celebrate their engagement and with Marco & Ari we had another bottle of bubblies to celebrate the start of an extreme night of partying - of course the hangover on Sunday was a high price to pay for some of us.... When mam & Harrij came back from Indonesia we splurged out again on plenty of good food - thanks for the fresh fruit juices in the morning mam! It was wonderful to spend time with everybody.

Barely recovered from all these visits, I jumped in a plane to visit a friend abroad myself. Spending the weekend at Nicole's in Perth was complemented with Nina flying in from Sydney and we had a wonderful girlies' weekend, tasting wine, browsing along the shops of Swan Valley and doing lots of impulsive buying, like only women can do. It was great! OK, it is perhaps a long flight for just a weekend, but there is nothing like getting together with my bestest friends and spending some quality time!

And for those of you wondering, yes, I left Timmo at home again where he spent the weekend doing the laundry, fixing his bike and taking care of his own meals... Well, if you feel sorry for him, just plan a visit to keep him company next time I'm away! :-) Anyway, I believe he actually enjoyed the weekend on his own and we are looking at plenty of nice trips together the next fews months.

Beside, the weekend previous to that, it was Timmo's kind of weekend, having been challenged by a Dutch colleague to beat him in the Run-Bike-Run. The wager was a lunch so he got up at 6.30 am on Sunday morning and took off. At 8.00 am I was at the start of the event as well and witnessed him and Bart run 10 km, cycle 40 km and then run another 5 km... By 10.00 am it was probably over 32 degrees in the sun and I, whose only exercise that morning was to click on the button of the camera, was already sweating. So just imagine how Timmo and Bart felt... Well, the pictures tell the tale, and you can guess who paid lunch.... :-)

Today was a public holiday - Vesak Day, the day they celebrate the birth and enlightenment of Buddha and his entry into Nirvana. We got up relatively early considering the fact that we had a day off, took a dive in our pool, had a real American breakfast (pancakes with maple syrup and all) and then decided to get adventurous; we went for a nature walk along MacRitchie Reservoir, a very large water reservoir with lots of "nature" around it. It was extremely hot, so we headed off with 3 liters of water, sunglasses and sunblock and started the 12 km walk well spirited. 2 km ahead and 0,5 liter of drinking water lighter, about 10.000 liter of rain water came pouring out of the sky. So much for trying to be one with nature in Singapore. We turned back, took a taxi home and decided to go and do what all Singaporean do on their days off: shopping.

Because behold, it is GSS time! The Grand Singapore Sale has started and it's a mad house. It's not just 20% discount or something that simple. It's 30% + 20% discount (no, that's not 50% discount, that's 30% discount and then 20% discount on the discounted price, so that's... 44% discount!), or buy 1 - get 1 free, or spend SGD 250 and get a voucher for SGD 50.... Who wants to miss all that? So off to Vivocity we went, the largest shopping mall in Singapore. And a few hundred dollars lighter, but lots of shoes, a watch and new sunglasses richer, we can now look back on a Buddha worthy day...

Enjoy the pictures!

    Mama:

Bye
